VelScope® Oral Cancer Screening
VelScope® is the latest technology in dental cancer screening. But it should be known that it is a discovery device, not a diagnostic device. This means that VelScope® is looking for tissues and irregularities that can lead to cancer but are not immediately cancer upon discovery. You should ask your dentist to perform this on you and your family for their safety.
How does VelScope® work?
The VelScope® system uses fluorescence visualization to reveal abnormalities in your tissues that may be diagnosed as early head and neck cancer growth. This light-based system allows for a non-invasive screening that is safe and is able to be performed at Dr. Lichter’s dentists office in just two minutes.
Why should I have this exam?
VelScope® can find 40% more abnormalities in oral tissues as compared to plain white light. At Dr. Lichter’s office we are dedicated to offering the latest and best care in order to give our patients the most quality and effective care. This will save you time, money, and possibly your life.
iTero® Digital Intraoral Scanner
Impressions have traditionally involved making a mold of your teeth using trays filled with a soft, messy, and often bad-tasting material that would harden around the patients’ teeth and gums, creating a precise model that is then used by the doctors and the lab to plan treatment and create final restorations.
The digital scanner provides a new, comfortable, and precise way for our office to take digital impressions of patients’ teeth. Taking accurate impressions of a patient’s teeth is a highly important part of a large number of dental and orthodontic procedures.
In addition to being much more comfortable for the patient, using the scanner allows us to be more efficient and accurate, which can result in a reduced number of visits to the office, saving the patient time.
